Visitors enjoyed a rural Texas eclipse-viewing experience at Eclipseboro Park, which featured playgrounds, a nature trail, butterfly garden, yard games, and a clear, unobstructed view of the total solar eclipse.

Main Street Eclipseboro transformed downtown into a cosmic hometown, where visitors experienced the eclipse alongside locals. The district was filled with live music, vendors, food trucks, face and body painting, lawn games, and dozens of events, with local businesses showing out across the square.

Located directly on the path of totality at Eclipseboro Landing (formerly the Outlets at Hillsboro), the Cosmic Cowboy Eclipse Festival delivered a three-day country music experience filled with live performances and classic Texas fun, culminating in a memorable viewing of the total solar eclipse.

Eclipseboro Park offered astrophotographers exclusive access to a secured, photographers-only space, creating an ideal environment to set up equipment, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and capture the total solar eclipse without distractions.

The Friday before the eclipse, Eclipseboro Park (Wallace Park) hosted a community stargazing experience featuring Hill College experts, retired National Park Service astronomy ranger Larry Smith, and special guests from the Dubai Astronomy Group. Visitors brought their own telescopes or used those provided during this free public event.

On Thursday, April 4, Hillsboro’s nightlife set the stage for the eclipse with Starlight Bar Night, a galactic-themed evening from 6:00 to 10:00 pm featuring free activations across participating venues.

Eclipseboro Landing offered day-of parking for eclipse visitors, creating a tailgate-style experience with access to an on-site carnival and convenient walking access to the nearby Cosmic Cowboy Eclipse Festival.

The Eclipseboro Carnival, hosted by Triple T Amusements, brought rides, midway games, and classic concessions to Hillsboro throughout eclipse weekend. The carnival operated from April 4 through eclipse day on April 8, drawing visitors each day and building excitement leading up to totality.

First Methodist Church hosted “Parking and Pancakes,” offering visitors a convenient place to park and a welcoming pancake breakfast ahead of the total solar eclipse. The event provided a family-friendly atmosphere where guests could gather, enjoy a meal, and prepare for the day’s once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.

Texas Through Time hosted a special presentation on deep space and distant galaxies featuring Dr. Benford of NASA’s Astrophysics Division. Drawing on his extensive background in extragalactic astrophysics and cosmology, Dr. Benford shared insights into the formation and evolution of galaxies, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the universe ahead of the total solar eclipse.

Texas Through Time presented “Eclipsing the Past,” a meteorite exhibit featuring 20 rare specimens, including the notable Monahans meteorite. The experience included a meteorite presentation, a NASA astronomer talk, a kids play area, and a themed gift shop, offering an engaging, family-friendly addition to eclipse weekend.

Texas Through Time hosted a special outdoor movie night featuring E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), bringing families together for a free, under-the-stars screening ahead of the total solar eclipse. Guests gathered on Saturday evening to enjoy the film in a relaxed, family-friendly setting, with concessions available on site.

Hillsboro Country Club offered a serene, uncrowded setting across its expansive 80-acre property, providing guests with an uninterrupted view of the total solar eclipse. The experience included access to club facilities, on-site parking, a full brunch, and beverage service, with open viewing across the golf course. Premium options included an exclusive astrophotography zone and a VIP experience featuring curated wine and picnic offerings.

The Totality Tattoos Event gave visitors a chance to commemorate the eclipse with custom designs created by experienced artists. Special artwork was curated for the occasion, allowing guests to mark the moment with a lasting, eclipse-inspired piece.

First Baptist Church hosted “Overcoming Obstacles,” a free, family-friendly event featuring ninja warrior-style challenges set up in the Franklin Street parking lot. Participants of all ages tested their strength and agility while enjoying an active, community-centered experience during eclipse weekend.

Church on the Hill hosted a “Park & View” experience, offering visitors a convenient location to gather and watch the total solar eclipse. Guests had access to indoor facilities and open grassy areas, with optional lunch service and eclipse glasses available. The site also supported weekend parking with shuttle access to Eclipseboro Landing for festival and carnival activities.

Diaz Tex-Mex brought energy to eclipse weekend with an evening of live music and DJ entertainment, paired with bar and food specials. Guests enjoyed classic Tex-Mex favorites, margaritas, and a lively atmosphere as part of the downtown celebration.

The Roadside America Museum, recognized as one of the area’s most unique attractions, welcomed eclipse visitors with extended hours and a special Classic Car Cruise-In on eclipse day. Located in a historic Ford building downtown, the museum showcased vintage advertising, character statues, classic cars, and nostalgic Americana, creating a memorable stop during eclipse week

The Hillsboro Arts League hosted an Art Sip and Stroll through historic downtown, featuring eight local artists exhibiting their work at various locations. Each stop offered a Texas-made beverage, creating a relaxed, walkable experience that supported the arts in Hillsboro.

The Hillsboro Boy Scouts brought local flavor to eclipse weekend with carnitas street tacos on Saturday and breakfast tacos on eclipse morning, giving visitors a chance to enjoy authentic eats while supporting a local youth organization.

“Cookies for CASA” offered homemade cookies for sale on the downtown square, with all proceeds benefiting CASA of Hill County, a nonprofit supporting children in foster care. The booth provided a simple, community-driven way for visitors to give back during eclipse weekend.

First Presbyterian Church hosted a community spaghetti lunch, serving spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and drinks to visitors during eclipse weekend. Guests enjoyed the option to dine in or take meals to go, adding a welcoming, home-cooked experience to the day.

Hillsboro Municipal Airport welcomed aircraft arrivals for the total solar eclipse, with operations managed by the Civil Air Patrol. Pilots and passengers used the airport as a convenient point of entry, with options to head into town or remain on site for a clear eclipse-viewing experience.

White Bluff Resort hosted a three-day celebration surrounding the total solar eclipse, offering lodging, daily activities for all ages, and on-site dining and commemorative items. The event provided a full weekend experience leading up to eclipse day in a scenic resort setting.

The Hillsboro City Library hosted “Eclipse FunFest,” a family-friendly event designed to build excitement ahead of the total solar eclipse, offering activities and programming for visitors of all ages.

“Wonder & Awe: Why Everyone Should Experience a Total Eclipse” featured Leticia Ferrer, a Dallas-based author, podcast host, and eclipse expert, who shared her experiences observing eclipses around the world. Hill College faculty members Dr. Anthony Ololo and Dr. Sagar Paudel also guided participants through safe viewing techniques, including the use of telescopes and pinhole cameras.
